Information, not advice

Guides explain household money systems in general terms. They are not personal financial advice, investment advice, tax advice or debt advice, and they are not a recommendation for any household's situation. Whether a system suits your home depends on your contracts, your income pattern and your obligations; regulated professionals advise on individual cases, and this desk does not.

Accuracy and dates

Every guide carries the date it was last checked. Prices, rates, provider terms and official guidance change; a guide is a dated snapshot of a checked position, and its checking date tells you how current the snapshot claims to be. Worked examples are labelled hypotheticals with round numbers. Figures quoted from official or published sources belong to their publishers and are attributed. We correct errors openly on the corrections page.
